The objective of this scheme involves developing the personality and character of the student’s youth through voluntary community service. An important service that can be rendered by the NSS volunteers is disseminating information about the latest development in agriculture, sanitation, nutrition, personal hygiene, etc

One unit of the National Service Scheme is functioning at the SRS Institute of Agriculture & Technology, Dindigul. Since, its inception as part of the curriculum. The NSS program is offered in the College to first- and second-year students. The program officers will be given orientation training for the effective conduct of the NSS program.

We started our NSS program by informing the village people about the purpose of our work. As an introductory program, we met Panchayat President Mrs. Rajammal Thangavel (Nagampatti village), Vice President Dharani Karthikeyan, Ward councilor Eshwari, Head of the village Kalimuthu, Nallusamy and along with them people of konnampatti village also participated in our NSS program We gave information to the people regarding the motive of our upcoming NSS program like the cleanliness of the village, proper nutrition for children, and veterinary maintenance.

After reaching the village we started our NSS work in the process of cleaning the temple, underneath the public water tank, surroundings of the drama stage. We went to each house by informing the village people to bring their cattle to the veterinary doctor who was supposed to come on the very next day(4.01.2023). After the completion of the cleanliness program, we returned to our college around 6 pm.

We reached Konnampatti village around 8.00 am. We the students of 88 members were split into 3 groups. Once again we reminded the village people to bring their cattle to the center of the village near Anganwadi. Around 9 am there came veterinary doctors, Dr.Thenmozhi and Dr.Kavitha.<br<> People of the village visited the doctor along with their cattle. There was a checkup session for the cattle and they got the medicines for their cattle and some were injected. After the veterinary program, we returned to our college at 6 pm

We started our rally from the Aathumadai bus stop to Sneha Mahal, Vedasandur.“Marabusar panmugathanmai kankatchi” (genetic diversity fair) was initiated by MLA Gandhirajan. Also, there came our college principal Dr. D. Raja(Agronomist) as a special guest invited by the important heads of the particular village. In Sneha Mahal, we eagerly explore the ancient implements which were used in olden agriculture.

We visited Konnampatti village and started the work by preparing the stage for the NSS program. Followed by we went to Thoppupatti Government School and conducted competitions for primary school children of standard I to III ( Drawing competition) IV and V (Dancing and Singing competition). After the competition, the prize winners were awarded with gifts like stationery kits. And there was a gathering of the YOGA program which was headed by Mr.Thangadurai (physical director of SRSIAT). This was mainly implemented for the welfare of the children. After the completion of the yoga session, we returned to college around 6.00 pm.

First of all, we started the day with a rally regarding the theme “SAY NO TO PLASTIC”. Around 11 O clock after the rally, we organized the stage for the culture. We invited the people and heads of the village for cultural by giving the invitations. And we asked them to assemble near the drama stage for cultural at 3.00 pm. The program started with the TAMILTHAI VAZHTHU. The program was held with the presence of Panchayat President RajammalThangavel, Vipresidentt DharaniKarthikeyan, Councillor Eswari, and Head of the village Kaalimuthu, Nallusamy. As a chief guest, we invited Assistant Agriculture Officer Mr. K. Chinnasamy. He was honored with a haul by our staff Dr. M. Prabhu (Department of Horticulture, SRSIAT).AO gave a formal speech about NSS to the people and also gave important information regarding the current Agricultural extension schemes run over by the government of India. Important heads of the village were honored by our staff with shawls. They also gave a speech and thanked the students of SRSIAT for the major work carried over by us over the past 6 days. By the time culture started dance followed by singing in between snacks was provided to the people. A vote of thanks was given by our batchmates(we thanked the village people for the facilities provided by them for the past 6 days) and the important head of the village thanked our staff and honored them. Finally, the program ended with NATIONAL ANTHEM.
